Starting Monday 9th March 2015, Megabus has a direct coach service linking Paris and Toulouse. There will be one overnight bus in each direction on a daily basis.
Journey time between Toulouse and Paris is about 8.5 hours.
For the first week of the service there will be at least ten tickets on each journey available for €1. After that, Megabus guarantees at least one seat on every coach for €1.
Megabus was already operating a London to Toulouse coach service, as part of their longer route from London via Paris and Toulouse to Barcelona. But due to outdated French regulations they were not allowed to take bookings for travel on coaches between Paris and Toulouse. Passengers could book from London to Paris, or from London to Toulouse, , or from Paris to Barcelona, but not between the two French cities. Megabus has now negotiated a change in the regulations so that travel between Paris and Toulouse by coach is now possible.
One reason for Megabus's cheap fares when compared to other coach operators is the size of their coaches. Megabus coaches carry up to 72 passengers, bringing cost savings. Under the new French regulations and the agreement with Megabus, fewer than 50% of the seats on the coach can be for travel between Paris and Toulouse. The remaining seats must be taken by passengers whose travels also take them outside France, or remain empty.
