We’ve been travelling around England for many years now, and have found some of the best of those hotels and other accommodation options to recommend to you. In the majority of cases we’ve stayed in them, so the reviews are from personal experience.

Where to Stay in England

We’ve deliberately highlighted the places likely to be most popular with people wanting to travel beyond London to see the best of England – the Cotswolds, Shakespeare Country, the beautiful South West, the Lake District, East Anglia, and England’s other lovely regions

Where to Stay in England: Country Cottages

One of our favourite ways of enjoying England is to rent a country cottage. They’re much cheaper than staying in hotels, especially if there are several of you travelling together, and having a permanent base is usually much more relaxing. Most companies rent cottages by the week, but an increasing number are now being more flexible and doing shorter rentals too. England’s a fairly small country, don’t forget, and you can cover a lot of ground quite quickly.
